Through increased exposure to recreational opportunities for pilots and tourist based trends that promote increased backcountry fly-in adventures, as well as recruitment of new or relocated aeromotive businesses to provide services and products to a global marketplace from Idaho County Airport, a new industry surfaces in Idaho County that community leaders believe has the capacity to sustain the creation of new jobs and increased economic stimulus to the area. The new airport based industry that we’re striving to develop in the rural region of Idaho County could be coined as The Aviation Marketplace.
Aviation is important to our national economy but also is a significant industry to regional and smaller airports across the country. Smaller aircraft traveling the skies represent a very important target audience that our Idaho County Airport can capture through services and amenities offered. One of those services is all about backcountry adventures by air.
BACKCOUNTRY DESTINATION AIR TAXI SERVICES – A GROWING MARKET
Promotion of tourism to recreationalists who love the sense of wilderness, freedom and privacy that comes from seasonal adventures in backcountry destinations are certainly in the crosshairs of Idaho County. Efforts to bring about further exposure to the unique destinations of our region are targeting Fishermen, Hunters, Backpackers, Whitewater Rafters and Kayakers who seek air taxi services for fly-in to remote river locations.
Backcountry destinations such as Shearer or Moose Creek on the Selway River are popular spots for fishermen interested in a memorable flyfishing expedition. A big game hunt or for a meandering float or extreme sport kayack adventure back to civilization, represent one of our target audiences.
