S80 is flying high!
We’ve got big plans for expansion of S80 Idaho County Airport including a large new hangar, an AWOS system, a wider, longer runway and other aeromotive inititiatives.
Just like many small rural communities across the U.S., Idaho County is taking advantage of Federal Grant Programs that provide a window of opportunity for economic stimulus to our region. Shrinking dollars to our communities from issues such as logging jobs loss, rising unemployment rates in general, the housing slow down, state and federal funding decreases and forest service limited access which affects seasonal recreational dollars streaming into the area, has inspired the need for other methods to bring economic stimulus to the area. Community leaders of Idaho County envision our S80 airport as a means to create new jobs, new economic resources and an improved long term stability that helps every person in Idaho County and the surrounding areas.
