Grangeville  is a great place to live and visit, and we think any amount of time spent enjoying the beautiful landscapes of this north central Idaho town are worthy of  your time.  From lodging, restaurants, grocery and hardware stores to medical facilitieschurches, hair and nail salons and shopping, to one of the last remaining outdoor movie theatres still in operation (Sunset Autovue), and Main Street’s Blue Fox Theatre (on the National Historic Register), a variety of museums and even a 9 hole golf course, Grangeville is a favorable location for many reasons, including its expansive recreational opportunities year round.  

 

NORTH CENTRAL IDAHO HAS A BIG BACKYARD TO PLAY IN 

With the Nez Perce National Forest presenting thousands of acres of wilderness areas, winter activities attract  snowmobilers to the 100′s of groomed trails, as well as cross country skiers, downhill skiers and snow tubers at Snowhaven Ski Area just 7 miles south of Grangeville.  

With 3 major rivers flowing within a ten mile radius (Snake River, Salmon River, South Fork Clearwater River), fishing, jet boating, rafting and other water based activites are popular in the area.   Backcountry fly-in locations on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, the Selway River and other remote favorites are popular among outdoor recreationalists and accessible via our local Air Charter Services.

COMMUNITY EVENTS  WITH A TASTE OF AMERICAN WESTERN CULTURE

Summertime in Grangeville brings Saturday Farmers Market ,    and a great variety of other seasonal events.  Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo, Grangeville Border Days  always falls on the calendar during the annual Independence Day holiday and turns into the biggest weekend of the year for Grangeville with parades, the rodeo, craft shows, car shows and more.    

Grangeville is also home to a Columbian Mammoth exhibit displaying a full size replica of a prehistoric mammoth unearthed out by Tolo Lake.  Story here.
