What We’re Doing Now

Idaho County Airport runway extends 5100 feetThe Idaho County Airport is located just one mile north of Grangeville City Limits and has been in operation since 1941.

Based one mile north of Grangeville Idaho,  Idaho County Airport represents a very affordable airstrip and airport facility representing a promising center of commerce for the central Idaho region.  Our airport currently has NO LANDING FEES and NO TIE DOWN FEES (some exceptions apply – check with Site Manager) and has a  current capacity for aircraft in the Jet A range from the Falcon 50 and Cessna Citation to King Air 190 – 100 -200′s, Lear Jets, and even Sky Crane Helicopters and Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATS) use our airstrip for fire fighting season.   Over the years, this small rural airport has expanded from a simple grassy field and gravel airstrip to what is today a paved runway that extends for 5100 feet. For years, Idaho County Airport has been the home base of operations by Grangeville Smokejumpers facility.   Also, in the past 2 years, the airport location became the new home for our regional United States Forest Service (U.S.F.S.) building, a unit overseeing management of the Nez Perce National Forest and Clearwater National Forest .

Anderson Aeromotive,  an FAA Certified Repair Station,  is working with community leaders to expand as an important anchor in the Idaho County Airport of the near future.  With County plans for a new hangar to accommodate shelter for large and small aircraft, Anderson Aeromotive would be able to offer repair and maintenance services to pilot customers in need of aircraft maintenance and repairs.  In turn,  the local economy will benefit, providing aeromotive services to pilots in the Pacific Northwest region as well as ample opportunities for other aeromotive businesses to gain a foothold in the local economy.

We’d like to share some of the current projects that we’re working on to make the Idaho County Airport expansion a reality:

Longer, Wider Runway (details about this upgrade are currently unknown but will be posted here when details are available.)

New Airport Hangar

A.D.A. has an existing request for proposal for an airport hanger.   Layout and building designs must accomodate large radial engine  aircraft as big as a DC-6.  The new hangar will provide shelter for aircraft brought in by airport patrons for maintenance and repair.   Currently, the airport does not have a hangar facility to shelter aircraft which limits the opportunities available for services to be provided.

Integrated Marketing Plan
Promotion of the airport facility and services available locally are being marketed through a new airport website for easy access to information by pilots and to generate inquiries by potential aircraft service providers, manufacturers and other aviation related businesses.

AWOS – Automated Weather Observation System
A request for bids on an AWOS system, which provides real-time site conditions,  has been issued.  The bids will be presented in June 2010.
